This document provides a detailed poultry houses design for a poultry farm in Zambia, intended to rear 12,480 egg-laying hens and 10,400 chicks. The farm has five poultry houses, each measuring 30 meters by 10 meters. Livi Machinery has developed a plan to optimize the use of these houses and the equipment needed to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Poultry House Allocation and Design

The five poultry houses on the farm will be allocated as follows: three houses will be used for layers, and two houses will be used for chicks. Each house will be equipped with specialized A-type cages suited for either layers or chicks.

Layer Houses Design

Three of the five poultry houses will be dedicated to egg-laying hens. Each of these houses will accommodate 4,160 layers, resulting in a total of 12,480 layers across the three houses. To achieve this, we will use 78 sets of A-type layer cages, with each house containing 26 sets.

The specifications of the A-type layer cages are as follows:

  • Dimensions: 1950 mm (L) x 450 mm (W) x 410 mm (H)
  • Configuration: 4 tiers, 5 doors per set
  • Capacity per set: 160 layers

This setup ensures optimal space utilization and provides a healthy living environment for the layers.

Chick Houses Design

The remaining two poultry houses will be used to rear chicks. Each house will hold 5,200 chicks, totaling 10,400 chicks in the two houses. For this purpose, 52 sets of A-type chick cages will be utilized, with each house containing 26 sets.

The specifications of the A-type chick cages are as follows:

  • Dimensions: 1950 mm (L) x 500 mm (W) x 350 mm (H)
  • Configuration: 4 tiers, 3 doors per set
  • Capacity per set: 200 chicks

This arrangement provides adequate space and conditions for the healthy growth of the chicks.

Summary

In summary, the design by Livi Machinery effectively utilizes the five poultry houses to rear a total of 12,480 layers and 10,400 chicks. Here is a breakdown of the allocation and equipment:

  • Total Layers: 12,480
  • Total Chicks: 10,400
  • Total Poultry Houses: 5 (3 for layers, 2 for chicks)
  • Total Layer Cages: 78 sets (26 sets per house)
  • Total Chick Cages: 52 sets (26 sets per house)

This comprehensive plan ensures that the farm operates efficiently, maximizing productivity while maintaining high standards of poultry welfare. The use of A-type cages tailored for layers and chicks provides an optimal environment for both egg-laying hens and growing chicks, ensuring the success of the poultry farming operation in Zambia.
